Zinedine Zidane expects Bayern Munich to have a "great performance" as they try to break a first-leg deficit and reach the final of the Champions League at the expense of of Real Madrid.

The current champions, who aspire to win the competition for the third year in a row, are the main favorites to book a trip to Kiev after registering a 2-1 triumph in German territory last week.

However, Zidane and Madrid have the experience of being on the wrong side of a Bayern reaction, having found themselves in the same situation in the quarter-final phase of last season.

Losing 2-1 in the tie, the Bundesliga The Giants forced extra time to reflect the result in the Spanish capital, only to finally lose 4-2 at the Santiago Bernabéu after the expulsion of Arturo Vidal in the 84th minute

"We know that they will come here and put in great performance," Zidane told the media before the heavyweight clash on Tuesday.

"They are a great club and a great team, we know what to expect, that is the reason why we have to be well prepared and put on a great performance ourselves.

" If we do that, we can achieve great things . But I have no doubt that Bayern will come here without any kind of complex, which will allow them to make a great performance.

"The key to us, and what we have to do, is to think about winning the game, going to the court wanting to do that, we need to go out and score quickly and that is what we will try to do." Madrid scored three away goals in the last round against Juventus, but still needed a controversial penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo to prevail 4-3 in the group after a dramatic collapse in the second leg.

They were also held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham in the group stage of the tournament, although Zidane ruled out any suggestion from his team to fight the pressure of playing in front of his own fans.

"If I had to choose, I would play all the matches at the Bernabéu," said the Madrid boss.

"We have a game back at home and we are proud to be playing in the semifinals against our own fans."
