INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The expected return of Danica Patrick to Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been delayed.

He turned a lap during an update course at the 2.5-mile oval on Tuesday and then returned to pit road due to a water temperature problem in car No. 13. He is expected to return to the track in a hour.

Patrick, 36, retires after the Indianapolis 500 on May 27.

Patrick has five top-10 finishes in six previous starts at Indy, including the best record of his career in 2009. But he has not driven an IndyCar since he left for NASCAR after the 2011 season.

Patrick was the 2005 rookie of the Indy 500 and is one of the 14 drivers who lead the Indianapolis 500 and the Daytona 500.
