Tyler Perry Plans to Retire His “Madea” Character

Tyler Perry says goodbye to his iconic character Mabel "Madea" Simmons. Perry, who played Madea in eleven films, nine plays and two television shows, recently announced that she would remove the character after the tour and the 2019 film A Madea Family Funeral by Tyler Perry .

"I do not want to be his age [still] interpreting it," Perry explained his decision. "I'm doing one last tour in 2019, the farewell tour, and the last movie is Madea Funeral, which I shot two years ago," he added. "Then, we'll say goodbye."
