What games are going to be in Steam Sales?
First, you should and do not expect new games to get the really steep discounts that have become synonymous with Steam sales. You may see a 5%, or even a 10% discount on games that have had great recent successes, but if they are still new enough to spin money without the need for a price cut, do not expect that change now that the sale is here.
But, with the exception of the newest titles, almost the entire store receives a 25% discount, if not more, with a select few that get a huge discount of 90% off the list price. While the store now highlights what Valve considers the best deals, it's worth noting that flash and community sales are no longer in the mix, so feel free to choose a title for sale whenever you want: your price with a discount, it will remain valid from the sale.
Of course, other Do Exist ™ game stores, and it's also worth checking out their products, to see if you can buy an even bigger bargain elsewhere. GOG.com is an excellent place to start, and if you are agnostic of the platform and looking for multiplatform titles, do not lose sight of the offers of PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live with Gold as well.
