    You can update your software system by any of the following methods:

    Update by PC

    Download the update data using a PC and save it to a storage medium * or on a USB mass storage device. Copy the update data to the PS3 ™ system hard disk and perform the update.

    Instructions for updating using a PC:

    Necessary elements

    • One wireless controller
    • One USB cable
    • One PC with access Internet

    Update data download procedure

    Update procedure

    Notice:

    System Update

    1. Insert the storage media or USB device containing the update data into the PS3 ™ system.
    2. From the start menu, select Settings (Settings)> System Update (System Update) and then press the Close button.
    3. Select [Update via Storage Media] and then press the Close button.
    4. The system searches automatically and finds the update data stored in the storage medium or USB device.
    5. Start the update.
    6. Press Close button to start the update. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the update.
    7. Confirm that the update was successful.
    8. After the update is complete, go to (Settings)> (System Settings)> [System Information].
    9. If the field [System Software] shows the version number of the update, the update was successful.

    Tip:

    You can delete the update data from the storage media or USB device after the update has completed successfully.
