The British audio company Ruark Audio has just presented its first connected wireless speaker called MRx. Compatible with the music system "all in one" R2 Mk3 of the company and its radiogram R7 Mk3, the MRx presents the modern design of the Ruark brand and also marks the beginning of the new application "Link" of the company, which mentioned last summer.
MRx comes with capabilities and specifications seen in other Ruark products, and builds on them. It has a stereo pair of 75mm full-range neodymium drivers that have been recently redesigned and powered by a high-fidelity dual-channel amplifier. On the back there is a four-way selector switch that allows you to use the MRx as a device alone or as part of a stereo pair.
Regarding connectivity, it has a Bluetooth receiver integrated with aptX, and through an Internet connection, it is compatible with Spotify Connect, Deezer and Tidal, with Amazon Music coming soon. If you want to connect it directly, an optical and analog 3.5mm combined input allows you to connect anything from a turntable to a Google Chromecast, a multipurpose USB socket can be used with a memory device or charge your phone, and there is an Ethernet socket to cable to a network if the speaker is somewhere where the signal is weak.
As for the amount of real estate it occupies: lying horizontally with the support, it measures 11.8 x 7.1 x 7.1 inches, while vertically it is 6.3 x 12.6 x 7.1 inches. If necessary, there are threaded inserts on the back panel so that it can be mounted on the wall.
Ruark has designed beautiful speakers for a while, so it's nice to see the announcement of a device that provides a real multi-room capability to the line, especially if you've already invested in some Ruark equipment.
The MRx will be available as of May 2018 for £ 399.99 ($ 559.89).
