Koss releases wireless version of classic Porta Pros

There are few, if any, pieces of technology that have lasted in their original form for as long as the Koss ear-phones Porta Pro, which this year turns 34 years old. Its enduring popularity is a testament to the quality of the Porta Pros, but finally a change has been imposed on Koss with the change of headphone connections on smartphones. And that brings us the new Porta Pro Wireless model launched today.

I've had a couple of revisions of Porta Pro Wireless for a week, and they're a very literal version of the idea of wireless Porta Pros. Everything related to its design on the cable is identical: the same soft foam pads, the same folding design with extendable metal band, the same blue reflections and the same degree of lasting comfort. At a cost of $ 79.99, these new headphones request a premium of $ 20 over the list price of the regular cable version, which is purely for Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity (with AptX), remote control plus microphone and 12-hour battery integrated in the cable. That said, the Porta Pro Wireless is still among the cheapest Bluetooth options available in the market. I will have more nuanced and definitive impressions to share in my full review later this week, but I can already say that Porta Pro's wireless sound sounds better than its price.

Koss is launching the $ 79.99 Porta Pro Wireless immediately, with availability directly from its own website, Amazon or Massdrop.
