Director Tetsuya Nomura announced the news at Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour, and later apologized to fans on Twitter for the delay. "I regret that we are requesting a little more time than initially planned," he said, and promised more information and "some trailers in E3."

It has been a long road for Kingdom Hearts 3 to be announced for the first time five years ago in E3 2013. In 2017, Square Enix finally announced a vague window of "2018" for the final release, but unfortunately it seems that it will miss that promise in just a couple of weeks. But since fans have been waiting more than thirteen years since Kingdom Hearts 2 to discover how Sora's story will end, the extra couple of days to make the game as good as it seems short in comparison.
Kingdom Hearts 3 will be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on January 29, 2019.
