The highly anticipated adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's mega-hit musical will be directed by Tom Hooper. This Oscar-winning filmmaker already did an incredible job turning Les Misérables into a movie, so we're pretty sure he'll be able to do the same with Cats .
Another reason why this adaptation is destined for greatness? It's amazing, the cast of multiple talents! Long before Idris Elba got on board, Taylor Swift, Ian McKellen, James Corden and Jennifer Hudson already accepted Hooper's invitation to join the cast. He is a criminal brain that serves as an antagonist to the central characters, a tribe of felines called the Jellicles. Filming should begin later this year and will debut on December 20, 2019.
