Virtual reality has many practical applications. In an attempt to address some of them, HP launched its first business-focused portable virtual reality (VR) laptop. They claim that their products can reduce the cycle times from concept to production, provide total immersion experiences to the client and improve training exercises.

Launched as the "world's first portable VR laptop", the HP Z VR backpack is the first of its kind and claims that it can bring the "full potential" of virtual reality to life. With the objective in the commercial segment, the backpack can be applied to the design of products, architecture, entertainment and automotive tasks.

For the consumer, HP says that the Z VR backpack has the potential to reinvent the shopping experience. On the other hand, HP's proposal for companies is that the Z VR backpack can be used to reduce the cost of training exercises, as well as the risk associated with dangerous situations.

The HP Z VR Backpack runs on the Intel Core i7 vPro processor and the NVIDIA Quadro P5200 together with a 16GB video memory. To manage heavier VR data loads, the PC has a dual-channel 32 GB DDR4 system memory.

It's not too heavy with 4.6kgs. The company also states that, since the Z VR backpack harness is made of mesh, it should be durable and comfortable for prolonged use.

Your docking solution gives users the option to move between using a desktop and using the VR laptop PC according to their requirements. It even has support for two 4K screens.

Users should purchase the head-mounted display separately. HP's own portfolio includes HTC Vive Business Edition and the HP Windows mixed reality headset. From the first moment, the HP Z BR backpack includes the harness, the spring, the hot-swappable batteries, the battery clips, the power adapter and, of course, the PC backpack.

The PC comes with numerous ports that cover most bases It has 4 USB 3.0 Type-A ports, USB type C port, HDMI 2.0 port, a mini-DP 1.3 port, combined audio connector, a HMD power connector and the power port.

According to HP, between the two batteries, the backpack should run for a good hour of high performance VR. The operation of the PC depends on the internal battery.

The HP VR portfolio also includes the HP ZBook 17 running on the seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processor and the NVIDIA Quadro P5000 with up to 64 GB of DDR4 -2400 ECC and up to 1TB of HP Z Turbo Drive PCIe hard drive. It is basically a 17-inch laptop with an Ultra HD DreamColor IPS screen.

The HP ZBook 17 is priced at Rs 1.65,000.

If you do not want the portability of a laptop, then there is the option of 1HP Z desktop workstations. The Hp EliteDesk 800 G3 Tower, specifically, is a VR certified PC. The company has redesigned the desktop to adapt it to a 26% smaller chassis and has paired it with the 7th generation i5 and i7 Intel Core processors, to keep the times in the modern workplace.

It is the most reasonable of the three offers, in terms of price, at Rs 72,000.

HP's portable PC VR portfolio was launched internationally in 2017, but the products have only reached India now. The Omen X Compact Desktop has not yet entered the Indian market, but with the release of these products, it may make an appearance in the next release.
