Horschel, Piercy win Zurich Classic after early charge

The American pair Billy Horschel and Scott Piercy won a coup at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans.

Billy Horschel and Scott Piercy returned to the winner's circle, throwing a 67 under par 67 to win the Zurich Classic in New Orleans by a blow on 22 strokes on Sunday.

After taking a 61 on Saturday, Horschel and Piercy resumed where they left off, birdieing five of their first 11 holes in the final round in foursomes format.

The duo finished the round with seven consecutive pairs, enough to defeat Jason Dufner and Pat Perez for a hit. 19659016] South African duo Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel finished third with 20 fewer. They shot a final round 68.

Using a team format for the second consecutive year, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans presented two rounds of the best ball and two rounds of alternative shot of each match.

Englishmen Chris Paisley and Tommy Fleetwood climbed to the standings Sunday night after boring the eagle in par five eighth to finish tied in the quarter with 19 fewer.

Chesson Hadley and Brice Garnett were also at 19 low after returning to the contest Saturday with 61.

The Elite Ryder Cup match Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose finished tied for 19th with 14 under par. The duo shot 14 in the best ball, but only in the alternate shot.
