HBO announced on Monday that it has renewed Succession for a second season.
The news of the renewal comes only in two episodes of the first season of first-year drama.
Succession tells the story of a family that owns a media empire. While the show is fictional, you can not ignore the Murdoch style of the family behind the largest media conglomerates in the world.
Succession was created by Jesse Armstrong, who is also an executive producer with Adam McKay, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Will Ferrell, Jane Tranter and Mark Mylod. McKay also serves as a show-runner and directs the pilot.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, t the first episode averaged 785,000 viewers, getting a strong reaction from critics, averaging 70 out of 100 in Metacritic review aggregate.
The first season of Succession stars Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Hiam Abbass, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Nicholas Braun, Matthew Macfadyen, Natalie Gold, Peter Friedman and Rob Yang.
