Google Pay is adding mobile boarding passes and event tickets

In a move that brings its digital wallet closer to Apple's, Google adds mobile tickets for travel and entertainment events to Google Pay. The iPhone has offered the ability to store their mobile tickets, called "passes" in the case of Apple, within the Wallet application for quick access since 2012. Google Pay already allows you to do that with credit and loyalty cards, but Now Android users will find digital boarding passes and scannable tickets within the application as well. Southwest Airlines really added the feature to their application one day before the Google event, which Android Police picked up.

Google collaborated with Urban Airship "to create optimized and attractive ticketing and boarding pass experiences". Several travel and entertainment brands such as Alaska Airlines and Regal Cinemas already use the Urban Airship platform, which allows "real-time updates (such as changes in departure times), and personalized individual messages within the card and through notifications of screen lock.
