After the update of the Android Messaging application, a matching update was also sent to your Phone for Pixels application and other Google compatible devices. The story is the same, although the visual changes seem less severe since the previous versions were less colorful and the contact photos were a little more dominant. There are no live functional changes for the general public, but there is a noticeable change in the Favorites tab in the works.

Disclaimer: The disassemblies are based on evidence found within the apk (Android application package) and are necessarily speculative and usually based on incomplete information. It is possible that the assumptions made here are erroneous or inaccurate. Even when the predictions are correct, there is always the possibility that the products change or cancel. Like the rumors, nothing is certain until it has been officially announced and published.

The functions described below are probably not yet live, or can only be live for a small percentage of users. Unless stated otherwise, do not expect to see these features if you install the apk. Redesigned Favorites Tab

Left: Current design. Right: Next design.

A partially redesigned Favorites tab is being developed. The new look markets large contact photos for smaller round photos. With the photos occupying less space, the list changes to a three-column layout.

The behaviors have also undergone some minor adjustments. In the previous format, long press a contact gave you the ability to change their position in the list or drag them to a space at the top to remove them. In the new design, a long press can still be used to change your order, but it also shows a menu with some options, including a command to remove the contact from Favorites. There is a strange behavior in which contacts with multiple phone numbers only have two options in their menu, while contacts with a single number (marked with a telephone receiver badge) will also have commands to call them or start a message.

When you touch a contact with a single number, a call immediately begins. Contacts of multiple numbers, even those with a predetermined number, will ask you for a dialog box that will ask you what number you want to use. Of course, this behavior may change before Google deploys this new design.

You can enable this version of the Favorites tab now if your phone is rooted, and will probably work with the ADB backup / restore technique. A single brand named G__enable_new_favorites_tab must be modified in / shared_prefs / dialer_phenotype_flags. Change from false to true, then force to close the marker and run it again. That's. This variant of the Favorites tab has been in development since before v23, but it seems to be very close to being completed with this version.
