Google Lens was one of the hot topics of Google I / O, this year. During the program, Google told us (and demonstrated) that several OEMs would have integrated live processing into their camera applications, which we have seen live for some phones produced by Sony, OnePlus, Motorola and ASUS. Meanwhile, Google's own Nexus and Pixel phones stayed a little behind the curve, at least to this day. The latest update of the Google Camera application finally brings the Lens mode to Pixel, Nexus and other Google compatible phones.
To find the Lens mode, simply open the navigation panel by touching the hamburger icon in the upper left corner or sliding from the left edge to the center. It works the same as in the Google Assistant and in the standalone application, so there is nothing in this change that we did not have, but it is another way to get to Lens if it is more convenient or memorable from one moment to the next. . The performance and behaviors seem to match, and it seems that all the main features are there, such as recognizing and copying text or reading barcodes.
I can confirm that this update adds the Lens mode to at least the Nexus 6P and Pixel phones, but it should also work for any other phone compatible with the Google Camera application.
