The essential phone has been improving in steps since its launch, most recently with its jump to Android Oreo 8.1. Now, Essential has made the company's first phones and accessories even more accessible, with a commercial launch for customers in Canada, France, Japan and the United Kingdom through the Essential.com site.
Initially, the essential phone had much more limited availability, with only Sprint offering it in stores, despite working in other GSM networks, such as AT & T and T-Mobile. Since then, Amazon has started offering an essential phone unlocked with Alexa.
Although Essential Phone is behind the competitors that launched or debuted flagships with the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset, it still has a lot of life. Its design remains, with a notch that beat Apple to the party and offers more screen space than other phones equipped with notch. And the Snapdragon 835 chipset inside is still a competent interpreter.
We are in contact with Essential regarding the global prices and will update when we can confirm the cost in each region. Since Essential Phone has dropped considerably since launch, it is reasonable to expect it to enter these new markets as a large mid-range offering with high-end credentials.
