The Arizona Diamondbacks announced that starting pitcher Robbie Ray has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with an oblique forced right.

On Monday, Arizona retired pitcher Silvino Bracho from Triple-A Reno to take Ray's place on the list.

Ray, a Cy Young contender for the National League (NL) last season after going 15-5 with a 2.89 ERA and 218 strikeouts in just 162 innings pitched, has a difficult start in 2018 (2-0, 4.88 effective). .

The Diamondbacks became the first National League team in 111 years to open the season with nine straight series wins, and they are just one game behind the Boston Red Sox in the best record in the major leagues.

With Taijuan Walker ready for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, the Diamondbacks can not afford to lose another long-term starter.
