Apple’s unreleased gold iPhone X revealed by FCC

An Apple presentation at the Federal Communications Commission reveals images of an iPhone X gold that has not yet been released. The confidentiality period of 180 days in the photos has expired, offering a clear view of an iPhone X with a glass plate with the same golden tone as the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus launched in September. MacRumors saw for the first time the now public photographs. The stainless steel sides are also of a golden tone.

Before the iPhone event last year, it was reported that Apple was working on a golden version of the iPhone X, but that color was never shown on stage, and Apple chose only two colors: gray and white / silver. Presumably, the company ran into unforeseen manufacturing obstacles with gold. It is reported that Apple is working on a golden version of the iPhone X successor, so the company will try again in a few months.

If Apple had used one of those colors of the iPhone X for its presentation of the FCC, we would not have received these photos of the golden model and a rare look at an unpublished Apple product. The images arrive on the same day that Bloomberg revealed an internal Apple memo with a severe warning against leakage of confidential information. In this case, Apple itself took the wrong step. Today also marks the launch of a fourth option of red color for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. There is no red option for the iPhone X.
