Sitting in the middle of the package in n. ° 5, the same place he occupied last year, Acer continued to convince us with valuable systems. The company also managed to produce the 21-inch 21-inch Predator, the largest notebook of all time, which includes a curved screen and mechanical keyboard, as well as Tobii eye tracking and a pair of Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPUs. This year, however, Acer technical support did not meet its previous standards, with incorrect responses and too many requests to upgrade to its paid level.
Acer's Main strengths
- Excellent value: Acer allows you to find the features you need – 1080p screens or aluminum designs, for example – for less than $ 350. Nice aesthetics: Acer laptops often succeed with subtlety and solid construction, and their gaming platforms captivated us with some of their boldest options.
Acer's Main Weaknesses
- Sliding Support: After a year at the top of the charts in our Tech Support Showdown, Acer was delayed this year by asking questions about how to protect your PC against Meltdown and Specter .
- Shipping costs: Do you need an Acer computer repaired under warranty? Acer will not cover the cost of shipping to your facilities.

 Reviews (33/40)
Acer is one of the Best computer manufacturers that offers excellent laptops at affordable prices. This year, the company also showed that its line of games is ready to face the leaders in that space. As a result of its strong offer of budget and games, Acer won 7 Editors & # 39; Choice awards and an average rating of 3.5 out of 5 during the past year or so.
We're still particularly impressed with Acer's E series laptops, which offer premium features like 1080p displays, discrete graphics or SSDs, with prices starting at $ 349. They even get great battery life. The company's Spin 1 convertible is so good that it's hard to believe you can get a superb IPS display, an aluminum chassis and boom stand for less than $ 330 (less than $ 300 on offer). The Predator 21 X of Acer obtained high qualifications for being the first 20-inch laptop and be full of high-end components.
Acer's biggest design gains are found in its gaming laptops, such as the black, blue and gray Predator Triton 700, which incorporates a glass touch panel on the top of the keyboard platform. And, with its 21-inch curved screen and its 18.6-pound volume, the huge 21-Predator challenges all preconceived notions of how big a laptop can be. Another portable gaming computer, the Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition, offers a more reserved but attractive black and silver color scheme.
However, Acer needs to do more with its conventional consumer systems. With little or no adornment, laptops such as Aspire 5, Aspire E 15, Swift 3 and Swift 1 will not necessarily flip, but they are quite attractive and generally offer solid construction.
Support and warranty (14/20)
Acer's support system takes you through the doorbell, as we discovered during our covert tests. The calls require you to work through a dense automated system and enter a 12-digit identification number, social media support provided incomplete answers, and telephone support could not handle our query about the Specter and Meltdown vulnerabilities. Interestingly, Acer's representatives constantly asked us if we wanted to sign up for the company's paid support level.
Acer sends repaired laptops to users, but asks users to pay the bill when they send a notebook. If you pay more, you can upgrade to an accidental damage protection plan that includes free return shipping.
This year, Acer built a tank. The name of that tank is the Predator 21 X, the largest laptop of all time; is a monster with a curved screen, mechanical keyboard, Tobii eye tracking and a pair of Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPU. In addition to building that beast, Acer introduced the Triton 700 Predator, a powerful gaming machine in a slim body. Acer also pursues the thinnest laptop title with the Acer Swift 7, although the touchpad does not click.
Value and Selection (15/15)
Acer offers some of the best values of any computer provider. For example, the Acer E 15 (E5-533-33BM) comes with a colorful 1080p display and a Core i3 CPU, but costs only $ 349, while a configuration (E5-576G-5762) with a Core i5 CPU, a 256 GB SSD and discrete graphics go for the unprecedented price of $ 599. The Spin 1 offers a brilliant IPS display and a full metal chassis for only $ 329.

But there are also some exclusive models. The Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition combines an elegant and professional appearance with great game performance, and the Predator Triton 700 was thinned with Max-Q graphics (and the questionable placement of the touch pad over the keyboard). We did not see much of the TravelMate line of laptops this year, but in general they are not as respected as the professional line of any other major brand of laptops.
And we would be negligent without mentioning the waste worthy Predator 21 X, with its curved screen, mechanical keyboard and price of $ 9,000.
