Monster Hunter is coming to the Nintendo Switch this summer

All the time I played Monster Hunter World on the PS4 in January, I wished I could have a similar experience on the Nintendo Switch. Now, Capcom is making that happen … more or less. Today, the developer announced the debut of the series on the Nintendo tablet in North America, but it is not a port of World . Instead, it is a continuation of the Nintendo 3DS 2016 game Monster Hunter Generations ; the sequel was already launched in Japan last year under the name Monster Hunter XX . It will be called Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate when it opens in English.

Although it's great to see the series switch to the Switch, fans of World should be careful. While that game combined the iconic Monster Hunter with a structure that felt more fluid and modern, Generations is a much more classic game Monster Hunter . It's great for the current fans of the series, but it's not the best entry point for newcomers. This is how Capcom describes the configuration:

Hunters can face the largest list of unique monsters in the series in this nostalgic look at the beginnings and evolutions of the series. Take on the role of a brave hunter in an adventure full of adrenaline that challenges the beasts larger than life. Completing the missions will yield valuable resources for the creation of countless different weapons and equipment formed by the defeated enemies of the players. Throughout their journey, hunters must defend each of the four game towns from the main threats known as the Fated Four, plus a new and more dangerous Elder Dragon.

Generations Ultimate will be screened at E3 next month, and the game will make its debut on the Switch on August 28. Meanwhile, you can take a look early in the debut trailer below.
