PHOENIX (AP) – More bad news for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Manager Dave Roberts said on Thursday that left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu will be sidelined until after the All-Star break with a severe left groin strain.

The injury occurred when Ryu, with a strong start to the season, pitched one-out in the second inning of Wednesday night's 2-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Roberts said that the groin muscle had broken off from the bone.

"It's a pretty dramatic injury," the manager told reporters before the Dodgers and Diamondbacks concluded a four-game series with an afternoon game.

Ryu was 3-0 with a 2.14 ERA, the best start to a season since 2014.

"It does not feel good," Ryu said through a translator after Wednesday's game. "This seems to be worse than what I had in the past."

He missed a month with a similar injury in 2016.
