Snapchat is making new lenses with built-in games

Snap wants its users to play games with their friends on Snapchat. The company is launching new targets today, called "Snappables," which allow users to play games through touch, movement or facial expressions.

The games sound similar to Snapchat's lens Cuphead which allows you to treat your friends as bosses to destroy. Wired reports that users can add friends to a rock band, challenge them to dance emoji or play basketball. You can see some of them in the video above. One person plays a game similar to 19459005 Space Invaders another seems to be making bubbles, and another raises his eyebrows to raise a virtual bar. New Snappables will be released every week, says Snap.

Snap clearly wants to differentiate itself and show how much more users can do on its platform compared to any other social network. The games seem fun, but I do not think they bring people to the platform. Instead, they seem great for people who already live in the app with friends.

Instagram, Snap's biggest competitor, has not yet introduced games into its application or has actually invested in AR filters at Snap's level. Still, Facebook already has games within the platform that could be transferred to Instagram.
