In 2016, we did not know much about Red Dead Redemption 2. It was known that there was a sequel to the works, but very little was known about the title.
However, an image of the Red Dead Redemption 2 map was leaked on NeoGaf and TechRadar was able to confirm the legitimacy of the leak through our own independent source.
So, now that the long-awaited title is officially launched, and we know what the final map looks like, we thought it would be a good opportunity to compare the map that was originally leaked with the one that was presented in the game.
Comparing maps
If you look at the lower left part of the filtered map, you will see Great Plains, home of the Blackwater settlement that is located on the upper right of the Red Map of Dead Redemption . This, along with the lack of a railroad in the Great Plains in the prequel and the caravan camps scattered throughout the map, suggested at the time that the sequel would take place before the Red Dead Redemption events, and we were right.
The original map also included the city of New Bordeaux – bottom right. However, as you can see in the official map below (you can see the full high resolution image in PowerPyx ) – the name of the city was changed to Saint Denis when Rockstar discovered that Take- Two also used the name in Mafia 3.
According to Kotaku, this meant a lot of additional work, since the voiceovers had to be re-recorded, the kinematics was revived, while the changes also had to be made in the play of art and the interface.
However, the inclusion of New Bordeaux in the original filtered map suggested that there would be swamps and New Orleans in Red Dead 2; Again, we were right. The sequel includes several marshes and marshes inhabited by alligators.
We now know that the official map of Red Dead Redemption 2 includes areas of the prequel as well as new areas, which provides a lot of space to explore. The five districts on the official Red Dead Redemption 2 map are: Amber, New Hanover, Lemoyne, West Elizabeth, New Austin. While all the areas north of Mexico are included in the original game, such as Armadillo, Tumbleweed and Fort Mercer (which was not shown in the original escape).
Red Dead ruckus
The Red Dead Redemption 2 map has definitely come a long way from the filtered image that We saw in 2016, providing a more versatile and delicious landscape that we could have imagined.
Therefore, it is not surprising that critics love Red Dead Redemption 2, claiming that it could very well be the game of the year. But if you seek other opinions, see our summary of reviews.
