Blood on the Tracks Bob Dylan's 1975 cult album, could soon adapt to a movie. Academy Award-nominated director Luca Guadagnino, known for the films Call me by your name and Suspiria recently told him to New York that he is working on a cinematic adaptation this classic.
According to Guadagnino, he acquired the theater rights for Blood on the Tracks and asked Richard LaGravenese ( The Fisher King, The Bridges of Madison County ) to write the script. LaGravenese said yes and produced a 188-page script that "follows the characters through a multi-year story, set in the 1970s, that he and Guadagnino had invented, based on the core themes of the album."
While there are more details of the film currently in secrecy, LaGravenese did reveal some snippets about his characters.
"When they are repressing, we dramatize the repression and what that does to them," says LaGravenese. "And we dramatize what happens when you let your passions take over too much."
Blood on the Tracks was Bob Dylan's fifteenth studio album and was recorded during a turbulent period in Dylan's personal life, which included estrangement from his then-wife Sara. Due to this, most of the critics interpreted the songs of the disc like autobiographical, although Dylan denied it several times and affirmed that it was inspired by the stories of Anton Chekhov.
Although the album initially received mixed reviews from critics, it came to be considered one of Bob Dylan's best works and was labeled "the truest and most honest account of a love story from tip to stern ever printed. on a magnetic tape. "
