Buffy the Vampire Slayer is ready to restart the comic in 2019.
Before the TV restart, fans of the series will get a reboot of the comic separately, courtesy of Boom! Studios, which announced last week that it had acquired comic book and graphic novel rights.
The news was announced by the studios at New York Comic-Con. The reboot will be written by Jordie Bellaire with Dan Mora's art. The creative team will be supervised by the original creator of the series, Joss Whedon. The new series Buffy "will reimagine the innovative phenomenon of pop culture from the beginning".
"The world of Buffy The Vampire Slayer has developed so richly over the last twenty years, so when it was time to decide where to take the franchise under Joss' guidance, there was only one answer in our minds: to reimagine the story of Buffy and the gang for a new generation, "Boom! Executive editor Jeanine Schaefer said in a statement. "The world at this time is more frightening than ever, placing these characters firmly in 2019, we can use the themes that were so integral to the show (identity, agency and empathy) to examine our world and the heroes and monsters that lurk inside all of us … and hit those monsters right in the face. "
" Buffy has brought so much joy to my life and being part of that now is ridiculously overwhelming on many levels ", Bellaire added, "My favorite aspect of Buffy is how we have a large group of characters that love each other, get hurt, and sometimes even kill each other, I can not wait to get into that universe to find new stories. , explore the oldest and maintain forever the theme of self-discovery and growth, whatever it may be. "
The new series will be launched on January 9, 2019 [19659008]
