Samsung’s Bixby may finally get more third-party integration soon

Poor Bixby. It's true that we have not had many good things to say about Samsung's intelligent assistant since launch, but it's not because of a lack of potential. The company has promised great things from the first day, but has been slow to comply, well, in almost everything.

Third party integration was supposed to be one of Bixby's most important selling points, but in the year and a half since launch, Samsung has not offered much in that regard. According to a new report by The Wall Street Journal, the hardware giant will shed more light on its plans at next week's Samsung Developer Conference, with the release of third-party "capsules."

the offers sound quite similar to the skills and actions we have seen in the competition, allowing developers to build their own personalized responses. It's something that Samsung will really need to push forward if products like the upcoming Galaxy Home premium smart speaker are going to find some kind of market.

The HomePod competitor already seems a difficult sale, as Samsung makes a steep rise towards the growing market of smart homes, and high-profile partnerships will be an important key to enter. Speaking of difficult propositions, The Journal's story also reconfirms previous rumors that Samsung will display a folding phone at next week's event.
