This year's Emmy ceremony was filled with dozens of incredible moments, but the absolute domination of The wonderful Mrs. Maisel was the one It took everyone by surprise.
The Amazon series about a 50s housewife that turns into stand-up comedy took home five gleaming statuettes, including the Emmy for Best Comedy Series. Game of Thrones won a big victory in the best drama category, for the third time in the last four years.
The wonderful Mrs. Maisel was victorious in almost all the categories in which she was nominated in the last night. Rachel Brosnahan and Alex Borstein received awards for best screenwriter and supporting actress in a comedy series. Showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino received Emmys for directing and writing the pilot for this fun period piece.
The masterminds behind The murder of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story also had a reason to celebrate. This limited series brought together three awards, including the best limited series, the best lead actor (Darren Criss) and the best direction for a limited series (Ryan Murphy).
This year's ceremony was hosted by Saturday Night Live s Michael Che and Colin Jost, but the critics were not in love with his monologue and We Soluved It opening number. The Emmys still gave us a lot to talk about, including Betty White's surprise and Glenn Weiss's proposal to his girlfriend during her acceptance speech.
