Taiwanese tech giant Benq, under his sub-brand Zowie, collaborated with eXtremesland to announce the ZOWIE Asia eXtremesland tournament in August 2018. After successful qualifiers, two teams, Optic India and Entity Gaming India, made it to the counter – Blow: LAN Go final match held on September 9 in Bangalore.
While ZOWIE is known for its competitive gaming teams for eSports athletes, eXtremesland is a sports tournament that provides a platform for the best electronic sports talent in the country to showcase their potential and compete at the APAC level.
The collaboration aimed to promote the boom in esports and PC gaming culture in the country and help it reach beyond borders by promoting local talent and the community. Unlike previous tournaments, Zowie expanded the competition with four off-line qualifiers that took place in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar and Jaipur, after the online leaderboard.
The four best classified teams, OpTic India, Entity Gaming, Team Brutality and Slaughter Rage Army, also received awards from Zowie such as mice, keyboards, audio systems, mouse pads and CAMADES.
The end of LAN concluded with a melee between Optic India and Entity Gaming with Optic India to win the winning title. The winner Optic India wins a trip with all expenses paid to Shanghai and an opportunity to win the prized set of prizes of USD 100,000.
Zowie also showed his portfolio of sports products at the venue. It included its first-line XL2546 electronic sports monitor that ensures a native 1ms response time with 240Hz refresh rate for smooth games even with most greedy graphics titles. It is the same monitor as all the teams in the tournament. Apart from this, there were some other pro products such as the Celeritas II keyboard, EC1-B CSGO and EC2-B CSGO gaming mouse, and other high-end Zowie products.
