Lego’s new line of connected toys will let you build and program the Batmobile

Lego today announced a new line of connected toys, called Powered Up, as well as its first set in the series: a Batmobile controlled by the application. The company had previously ventured into connected toys, most recently with its Boost set that allows children to create a variety of items and then encode and control them through an application. Do you remember the cat that plays the harmonica? I loved.

This new line of Powered Up will consist of several products that vary in complexity, instead of a set that can be used to create several things. Some sets can only work with batteries, while others can be controlled remotely or controlled by the application. Some of these functionalities will be sent with the sets, although children will be able to buy additional accessories that will add features to their compilations.

This new Batmobile can be controlled through two pre-built remote interfaces in the accompanying iOS / Android application or through a remote control that users personalize with sliders and buttons. At the end of this year a new coding interface will also be launched so that children can code the speed, direction, sound and duration to create new tricks and movements. The Batmobile will be launched on August 1 for $ 159.99. The game includes 321 pieces, two motors and a battery concentrator. The Boost kit also cost $ 159.99 at launch and included an additional engine and a combination of color and distance sensor, along with 843 traditional Lego parts.

Other games that will finally be released include the Lego City Passenger Train and the Lego City Freight Train, which adds remotes to these more classic games, and the Lego Duplo Steam Train and the Train Lego Duplo, which are designed for children up to two years. They can get an idea of the basic concepts of encoding with sensors that capture train tracks color coded.
