Nintendo has given some new details about its long-term online service in gestation for Switch. The service, officially called Nintendo Switch Online, will go on sale in September and will cost $ 3.99 a month, with a price of $ 7.99 per year and one year for $ 19.99. There is also a $ 34.99 option for a family plan that works on up to eight accounts.
The service allows you to play games like Splatoon 2 Arms and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe online, which previously has been free. Functions such as voice chat will continue to be offered through a smartphone application. Nintendo has confirmed that the backup in the cloud to save data will also be part of the service, a feature long requested for Nintendo consoles.
In addition to maintaining the ability to play existing games online, the biggest reason to sign up for the service will be to be the NES gaming library that Nintendo is adapting to the full switch with online support and voice chat. Nintendo is not yet saying Something about the possibility of a virtual console store for the switch, so this is the closest equivalent for now.
