The release date of HTC U12 was confirmed on May 23 by the Taiwanese smartphone maker in its global and Twitter accounts in the UK.
An image was published showing the components of a device dated 23.05.18. with the message "Coming soon, a phone that is more than the sum of its specifications".
HTC will become the last major smartphone maker to launch a flagship device in the first half of the year, with the LG G7 ThinQ announced yesterday and both the Honor 10 and the OnePlus 6 will arrive in less than two weeks.
The mocking message that HTC has used to accompany the image raises the question of what specifications the firm will consider appropriate to include in the handset.
You may suggest that the HTC U12 will not pack the same amount of grunts under the hood, or the camera's eye-catching specifications as rivals, but it could also refer to the phone's AI capabilities: a hot topic for many of the new phone versions so far this year. Front and back dual cameras and seemingly confirmed expandable storage
When looking closely at the image, the components shown suggest that the HTC U12 will have four cameras in total, with two in the front and two in the back.
To the left of the image, above the large battery block, the SIM tray also seems to have room for a microSD slot, pointing towards an expandable storage option on the U12.
All these coincide with the various leaks and rumors we have seen around the HTC U12 (which can actually be called the HTC U12 Plus).
