Amazon is expanding in Australia and, to help keep up with customer demand and its growing inventory, the online market has launched plans to establish its second warehouse in the Western Moorebank suburb of Moorebank.
The new 43,000-square meter compliance center will complement that of Melbourne which was launched in October 2017, in time for Amazon to launch Down Under in December.
"Sydney represents another important development for our growth strategy in Australia, after a steady and progressive increase in customer demand," said Amazon Australia Chief Operating Officer Robert Bruce.
Now hiring
With a new configuration, the need for more personnel arises. Amazon will begin hiring technical specialists, operations managers and support staff immediately, a welcome move by Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller.
"This is a great victory for our local community, the Amazon facilities will be a blessing for Southwest Sydney and we hope to have good jobs for people close to where they live and have a partner involved in the local community," he said. .
Amazon plans to have the new Sydney warehouse will be operational in the second half of 2018, but an exact date has not yet been set. The online giant expects the facility to take care of existing and future customer demand and expedite deliveries across the country.
