AWB WA Country XI squad was chosen from the men who competed in No Drink and Drive Shield, the WACA's first one-day competition.

AWB WA Country XI finished second in their group after the qualifying rounds to qualify for the quarterfinals.

They face Scarborough in Abbett Park in January when they return from the ACCC.

At ACCC last year, held in Victoria, AWB WA El País XI lost its first three games against Victorian, Queensland and New South Wales Country XI before breaking into home to beat South Australia and ACT.

Players expect to do well in the current form and their performances in last year's championship include hitters Tony Warren and off-road Craig Tonkin.

Tonkin and batter Leigh Burns were selected in the All Australian Country Side at the end of the championship last year.

AWB WA Country XI captain Glen Dehring believes that his team is a possibility his mix of youth and experience.

"It's quite exciting actually, we have some new young people, so with their youth and the experience of the older boys we should do well," said the veteran. "You have to be realistic, but we are a reasonable possibility."

This is the seventh year of Dehring in the ACCC. He was a member of the team that won the ACCC in 1997-98. Dale Burns, Leigh Burns and Tony Warren are the only remaining members of that champion team.

Chris D & # 39; mello started the season on the side of the country's Colts, but his excellent batting performances saw him elevated to the senior team after two games.
