E-mail Prague, April 30 (AFP) Karolina Pliskova will not have a match at home with her twin sister Kristyna after the former world number one withdrew from the WTA Prague Open on Monday due to injury.
"I am very disappointed and sad that I will not be able to play," said Karolina Pliskova, complaining of a groin injury.
Now ranked six in the world, Pliskova reduced the injury to fatigue after seven games in the last nine days, including a winning race of the tournament in Stuttgart and two Fed Cup semifinals for the Czech Republic.
Karolina's withdrawal means she avoids playing against her 72nd-born twin, whose career has been eclipsed by a sister runner-up at the US Open in 2016 and whose title win in Stuttgart on Sunday brought her trophy count to 10 .
Kris Tyna has a title on her Tashkent CV in 2016 and has earnings of less than $ 2 million in her career compared to the $ 11 million Karolina based in Monte Carlo
